Bardolino: Verona's Classic Light Red

2021 Monte Zovo Bardolino

On the eastern shores around Lake Garda, the native varietals Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinari go into making one of the Veneto’s classic red wine styles – Bardolino.

Whilst the same red grapes are also used to make Valpolicella, Bardolino is a distinctly different wine that can be appreciated even in its youth. A quiet achiever and local favourite, Bardolino delivers a charm and approachability that matches gracefully with a broader spectrum of foods, even fish. Pizza, pasta, risotto, and antipasti are also a natural fit.

The 2021 Monte Zovo Bardolino is bright ruby red, with purple hues. Aromas of cherry, blackberry and violet emanate from the glass. The palate reveals sour cherry notes with hints of cranberry and herbs. This is a fresh and well-balanced wine with a surprisingly long finish. A fun alternative to Beaujolais.
